Dear Netlanders, Your advice is sought on an LAN that I saw advertised somewhere. The set of products is manufactured by a company called 3X and the specific items are 3X-Link16 and 3X-Spool16, the former being the basic lan while the latter is the printer spooling option. Has anyone out there used this product or has any other experience with it? The product description notes that: "Approximately 20% of LAN users want to share the same database at the same time from multiple PCs. These 20% definitely need a LAN with file sharing capabilities, despite the many problems related to these types of networks, such as high cost of hardware, installation, and service, multi-user software, and LAN operating system required." Please excuse my ignorance but does the above mean that all this network will do is allow me to share a printer and copy files faster? What about executing programs remotely? What specific questions should I ask them to determine how good a system it is? Cheers, -Graham Brand (brand@janus.berkeley.edu or ..!ucbvax!ucbjanus!brand)
