[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 3.5" support with Award bios?

det@hawkmoon.MN.ORG (Derek E. Terveer) (06/25/89)

I have just purchased a teac 3.5" 1.44MB disk drive and it appears to work
correctly from Unix, but when i'm in dos i can't access the drive at all w/o
getting Abort, Retry, Ignore errors. I suspect that it is related to the age
of the bios that i'm running -- the ctl-alt-esc menu doesn't mention 3.5"
drives, just high and low density. I have an:

Award Software, Inc. 386 Bios V1.10

Do i have to buy another bios chip or is there a patch that i can use or what?
It would be nice to be able to access the drive now that i have actually
purchased it.

derek
