I am a recent recipient of an older model IBM quietwriter printer/sheet feeder. The unit seems to work fine, except that it insists on double spacing all lines. There is a setup switch on the unit for "auto-LF" that is currently in the off position (the unit seems to triple space with it in the on position). Under software control, sending it an Esc 5 0 sequence (disable auto-LF) DOES remedy the problem, but unfortunately some of the software packages in use do NOT allow for custom setup strings (but DO send the reset string, making it useless to use another package for setup). Has anyone out there had any experience with this problem and its solution? (Short of tossing the printer and brain-dead software!) Any info would be appreciated....
