[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Monitor Synch between EGA and CGA

From what I've read about monitors, the answer to your question is no. My
understanding of monitors is that each different graphics adapter (Monochrome,
CGA, EGA, MCGA, VGA) uses a different speed, and if you try to use, say, a CGA
card with an EGA monitor, you will get results that range from a loss of color
to images appearing diagonally on the screen, with a double image that is
right. Very difficult to read.
Of course, there are other differences besides the data rate, such as the
screen resolution and the method used by the monitor to produce the colors.
My personal reccomendation is that if you are planning in advance to upgrade
from CGA to EGA and possibly to VGA or MCGA, then go with a Multisynch.
