After looking around for some time to find a cheap off-the-shelf machine which would run OS/2, I settled on the following taiwanese clone: Greenleaf International, Inc. 2950 Corvin Drive Santa Clara, CA 95051 TEL. 408-735-7056 FAX. 408-735-7057 386-25 (20/25 MHz board (no cache), 25 MHz cpu) (AMI BIOS) 8 expansion slots (2 8-bit, 5 16-bit, 1 32-bit) $ 576 4 MB ram (80 nsec dips) (motherboard allows up to 8 MB) $ 125 1:1 DTC 7280 disk controller 1.2 MB Fujitsu floppy $ 185 Deico VGA board (256K, 16 colors) $ 345 Samsung VGA monitor $ 40 noname 2 serial, 1 parallel $ 65 Logitech (C7) serial mouse $2450 total I already had a 60 MB (MFM) hard disk, or I would have gotten an ST4096 80 MB (MFM) hard disk for $550 (OS/2 "seems to require" MFM). I immediately installed OS/2 on my primary DOS partition with no problems, and I'm now happy playing with PM. After reviewing various pitfalls (I think it is wise to err on the side of paranoia), I was pleasantly surprised at how much of the folklore and FUD was unnecessarily pessimistic. I didn't actually take any chances here. I simply asked to try OS/2 on this specific configuration before I bought.
