I need two things, and I'd like to hear suggestions of what's available, and
recommendations for and against specific products, please.
(1) I need a sound output board for IBM PC.  As cheap as possible, not to
    exceed $250.  I need to make a rifle shot sound, fairly loud.  Sound
    quality to be traded off against price, i.e. video-game quality is ok
    if cheap; higher quality better if not much more expensive.  The ideal 
    board will include a speaker, and be fairly loud.  Something more versatile
    than just sound effects would be better, again if no more expensive.  
    Is there such a thing as a $50 D/A converter for audio use?  Eight or
    twelve bits' precision would probably be enough for what I want.  
(2) Less urgently, I'd like to find something like a light pen that can be used
    at a distance from the screen, say 10 feet or so, as an aiming device
    such as might be used for a video game shooting gallery.  
If both of these could be had on one board, so much the better.
