I just purchased a motherboard (286 - 20mhz) which will accept either SIPPS or DRAMS (256k or 1meg, 100ns or faster). Is there a performance difference between the two memory flavors?? alan

Given the exact same parts used on the motherboard and on the SIMM, there will be a VERY SLIGHT speed penalty in using the SIMMs ... this is primarily due to the extra PC trace and the trace discontinuity at the via hole/SIMM pin interface. For the same reason SIMMs are better than an expasion card containing the same memory. Leo Hinds
