I'm trying to write some very simple software which will read data from the COM1: port on a PS/2 system 30 and process it. I'm using Microsoft C 5.1, and opening it as "AUX"; I use '_bios_serialcom' to set the port to the proper settings (2400,7,e,1). It reads data, but then comes up with the (presumably) DOS message: General failure reading device AUX Abort, Retry, Ignore, Fail? What can cause this? I haven't found anyone who can give me a definitive answer, so I thought I would turn to the experts on the net. NOTE: I know many people hate this, but I plea with you -- PLEASE EMAIL ALL REPLIES. I'm very far behind in rading this group (I just started not too long ago) and I'm trying to catch up without using the 'c' key. AND I NEED THIS INFORMATION SOONER THAN I WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET TO IT. Thank you for your patience and expertise. It is all most appreciated. -- Thanks Chris Cleeland, Tulane University ADDRESS: cleeland@rex.tulane.cs.edu Disclaimer: "I'm a student -- I can't afford to buy one!"
