[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Cross-Compiler for 68000

benderly@cs.columbia.edu (Dan Benderly) (07/22/89)

I am looking for a C compiler running on an MS-DOS machine (286 or 386) that
will produce 68000 assembly code.

Any references/phone numbers/comments would be much appreciated.

Try the Motorola BBS in Austin Texas at (512) 891-3733. They have cross
compilers and assemblers for most of the microprocessors they make. The
best part is that the programs and use of the the BBS is free! I recently
downloaded x6800.arc and it seems to work just fine.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

I know Lattice used to have a CP/M 68K cross compiler, that worked fine if
you ignored the CP/M systems calls in their libraries. You might call them
and see if it's been updated (it was pretty basic a couple of years ago) or if
it's even still available.

There are many possibilities. I personally use Lattice C 68K. Other
names that come to mind are MetaWare, Intermetrics, Manx, Software
Development Systems, Sierra Systems, and Alcyon. Capabilities of these
compilers are many and varied. I personally worked with Lattice for many
months on getting their 68020 compiler from Beta test to production using
a large project of mine as a guinea pig. The Lattice compiler is pretty
good now.

Sorry my time on this machine is expiring. Look in magazines for ads for
these companies or write to me and I'll respond another time.
