I currently have an XT clone, and I am planning to upgrade the machine in an incremental fashion, such that I have a 386 machine and an XT when I am done. So far as I can determine, the two ways to do this would be to buy a motherboard and a case and a power supply separately, or buy a bare-bones system. Neither is objectionable, and I'd probably go with a do-it-yourself assembly. Now come the questions. In the latest Computer Shopper, I have tracked down dozens of companies who sell 386 boards. The three most common boards, as far as I can tell, are Micronics, Mylex, and DTK. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? How about other boards? Are there any problems with any software (Windows 386 seems to be mentioned as troublesome to some BIOSes)? Whatever comments you might have regarding 386 machines, please e-mail them to me. I so hate to screw up, especially when it's my own personal money :-) :-). ********************************************************************** Norman Kluksdahl Arizona State University ..ncar!noao!asuvax!enuxha!kluksdah alternate: kluksdah@enuxc1.eas.asu.edu standard disclaimer implied
