[description of tests involving overwriting a test file with *itself*] [removed] Try overwriting with a *different* preferably one with the bits swapped. I *have* seen the compatability problem. We had to swap the A and B drives in a Compaq so that the (novice) users would write files on a 1.2M drive and ship them off to a department that only had PCs.
