[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 800x600 flicker?

bose@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu (08/01/89)

I have a sony multiscan 1302. It flickers in the 800x600 vga mode. I
understand this is due to the fast phosphor rate.

1. Does sony make a monitor that will not flicker in the higher res. modes?
2. Are there any large (16inch or greater) monochrome monitors that will
handle the 800x600 super vga mode?

Thanks, in advance.

The NEC multisynch XL is a 19" monitor that will. I had set up a system
like this for a serious AutoCad User (a mechanical engineer) and there
was no flicker at all. Yes I did run it at 800X600 and used the drivers
supplied by the adaptor vendor (Vega in this case). These cost about $2000.

There is a Mitsubishi 16" monitor and a Nanao 16" monitor that both claim
to handle super VGA. I have used the Nanao but not as super VGA. I have no
experience with the Mitsubishi but they claim higher reslotion than Nanao.
These cost about $1000.

Someone out there, I think it is Mitsubishi but I am not sure, has a 20"
high (claimed) resolution monitor. I have never seen this one is action.
