Hi netland,
I have a friend that is interested in purchasing an AT class machine.
He's considering mail order houses. It seems that I've read both good
and bad on this newsgroup, but not being in the market I never took
note. I'd like to receive your comments about computer mail order houses,
both good and bad.

Competent technical help, reliable etc... I have had to change the Hard disk and the comptroller (not their fault, since it is Miniscribe and WD) and they have been very quick and responsive. Whenever i have had questions, the technical assistance has given me precise answers. Their machines have been PC Magazine's editor's choice a few times. They have a line of 386 now in the low price range. A few colleagues who bought machines from them have had no trouble either. Now my hint, it reeks of prejudice and i am going to be flamed red hot but what the heck!! I would trust more a house headquartered in Arizona, Texas or the west coast than in New-York City (and the vicinity thereof). I have given hundreds of phone calls to various places for various pieces of equipment. The fact is that 99% of the time, one gets an impression of absolute greed, rudeness and total incompetence when calling the places scattered around New-York City. They could sell you washing machines as well. From them i would only buy well known brand name accessories that they don't manufacture themselves.
