Hello!
I'm having a little trouble with Alloy's NTNX Version 1.68, and
LOTS of trouble with PCBATCH Version 3.0 (National Data Corp, National
Electronic Transaction Services: NDC/NETS+). I was told by the PCBATCH
folks that their credit card service software "didn't behave well" inside
an Alloy LAN, and therefore shouldn't be run in anything but single-user
mode (ie, Network terminated). However, I have found that PCBATCH is
EXTREMELY touchy: I ran Norton Utilities Directory Sort program, and
PCTOOLS' Compress utility and found that the protection scheme of PCBATCH
was triggered, making the product unusable. The error message read as:
"PCBATCH not installed properly". Fortunately, the PCBATCH guys are pretty
nice over the phone when it comes to resetting their distribution diskettes.
They have some sort of date/time driven protection scheme that generates
passwords. The password is then fed into the executeable on the distribution
disk to reset the product! Anyway, the obvious question:
Are there any other "well behaved" credit card transaction programs, like
PCBATCH, but less finicky & also able to be run under Alloy? I guess I
should ask Alloy about this also. If there is sufficient interest, I'll
post a summary to the net.
