Hello world! I'm posting a query for a friend with an Everex EVGA graphics card (EV-673 card with BIOS v1.03). Does anyone out there know whether this card is VGA compatible, and if so, what degree of compatibility is offers? He's encountering problems using the VGA capabilities of programs like WordPerfect v5.0, DESQview v2.25, or TURBO C, v2.0. Typically, the top few lines are corrupted/garbled. The problem even manifests itself if Everex's own EVGAMODE utility is used to switch the card to mode #10 (80x60 format w/ 4 colors). In the past 3 months, he's sent 3 letters to Everex's tech support department, left 2 messages on their bbs, and placed 1 phone call to a tech support person there. So far these contacts have produced *no* response from Everex other than a letter asking which BIOS version was being used. Is Everex's tech support really this bad? Rumor has it that Everex is planning to upgrade the BIOS on this card precisely because of these compatibility problems; unfortunately, my friend has not received any confirmation of this from Everex. In case it matters, the system in question is an NEC PowerMate SX with 2MB of RAM and a Princeton Ultrasync monitor operating in analog mode. Any advice would be *greatly* appreciated. I'll pass it along to him. Josep M. -- Josep Maria Fontana, 3940 Locust Walk (MLCH) Philadelphia, PA 19104
