[net.music] sources for out-of-prints?

czp@houxa.UUCP (C.PODARAS) (05/03/84)

by now we've all had our latent late 60's/early 70's neurons stirred and
remember that the youngbloods did "get together"...a very good version of
which appears on the partially-live *ride the wind* lp. which reminds me
of a question which i've wanted to post.

assuming that a lot of you are like me, rather psyched on music from
our fyiy (formative years of impressionable youth), you also probably share
the rather frustrating sense of vinyl junkie-dom that i do in looking for lots
of favorite (read that as *out of print*) records. recently, someone posted
a notice to net.music about where to find a mason williams lp that i've been
looking for for ages (roundsound west,po box 2248, leucadia, ca 92024).

i'd be interested in hearing about particular stores/mailorder services that
you've had experience with in looking for out-of-print records. who's good?
who's not? my particular wanted list is mainly culled from the early/mid
70's, viz:
procul harum	whiter shade of pale (original mono)
		sugarloaf	lp w/ green-eyed lady
al stewart	zero she flies (import... know any good
						sources for old imports?)
youngbloods	ride the wind (my copy is far from pristine)
		david peale and the lower
east side have a marijuana, baby
		etc.

these are just a few examples from a long list. if you have any good
suggestions, please post. or, send mail. if i get enough to warrant it, i'll
post a list in the future. advthanxance.

You might want to try "Rather Ripped Records" on Euclid
in Berkeley, CA. THey have a search service that has yet to
fail me in any way. Any Berkeley types on the net know the
REAL address?
