I am looking for literature references on a couple of topics. These
need to be from easily-obtainable journals such as BYTE, EDN,
Electronic Design, etc. The second item has evolved so much in the
past few years that only newer references would be of much use.
1. I am looking for literature references on the IBM-PC/XT/AT bus;
something on the order of a tutorial. It would also be useful
to find a comparison of the AT's with the older bus. I would
like information which shows timing diagrams for simple read/write
to memory, I/O addresses, DMA and how bus arbitration is
accomplished.
2. I am looking for similar information on 2,7-RLL encoding
techniques used in disk drives, as well as Reed-Solomon error
correction codes. I have found references in BYTE that don't
into the details of encoding, and others in the IEEE Transactions
that are too mathematically abstruse to be of use to the working
engineer.
