YOUR THOUGHTS COUNT!--MILLION
MINUTES OF PEACE APPEAL (MMOP)
Network users around the world are being asked to join the Million
Minutes of Peace Appeal, which runs from Sept. 16 to Oct. 16. Anyone
interested is invited to pledge from 1 to 30 minutes per day or week
in silent meditation, prayer or thoughts of peace for that one month
period. All minutes pledged will be counted and reported to the United
Nations on Oct. 24, U.N. Day, as part of the U.N.'s International Year
of Peace celebration.
International MMOP sponsors include Lloyd Bridges, Kirk Douglas,
the Dalai Lama, Dr. Willis Harman, Rafer Johnson, Deborah Kerr, Ben Kingsley,
Kris Kristofferson, Paul McCartney, Dudley Moore, Dr. Linus Pauling,
Martin Sheen, Dr. Rupert Sheldrake, Margaret Thatcher, Bishop Desmond
Tutu, Archbishop's Assistant Terry Waite, and Dennis Weaver.
If you're interested in participating, it's important that you fill
out a copy of the form below and send it 'snail mail' to the address
shown. (Sorry, no facilities exist for accepting electronic pledges.)
To get an idea of the effectiveness of electronic communication, MMOP
coordinators have promised that minutes of peace pledged on this form
(which can be picked up freely by other interested nets) will be tallied
separately from those pledged on the regular forms used by MMOP committees
around the world. If you send in your pledge on a regular postcard, or
phone in your pledge (213-850-1530), be sure to indicate that you are
part of the computer net pledge group.
