Last January, I bought a Compaq SLT 286 portable. A major reason I got it was because of the promised "landing station" which would provide real bus slots so I could use LAN interfaces while at work. The SLT arrived quickly, and has worked fine, but the "landing station" was delayed; it was supposed to become available in April. April came and went, it never showed up. Since then, we've use every bit of leverage we can on 5 or 6 different distributors, none have been able to get the "landing station". Call Compaq and they say that they are "on allocation", but that they are being shipped. Has anyone out there actually seen a production "landing station" for the SLT, even at a show? Do you have one of your own, does it work, or should I give up? Please reply via mail (jbvb@ftp.com or harvard!ftp!jbvb), I will summarize only if requested to. -- James B.
