[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Chameleon info/expansion bus needed

liz@ucscb.UCSC.EDU (Liz) (08/19/89)

I have recently acquired an old "Chameleon" PC-compatible luggable.
It is the "extended" version which has 256k in 4 banks of 64k. It isn't
particularly useful in this configuration; I need more memory. Unfortunatly
there are no internal expasion slots. According to the manual, there is an
expansion bus adapter avaialable, which presumably plugs into the motherboard
(is this correct?), and ends in a socket which is mounted on the back of the
machine. An expansion bus (slots & card cage) is then plugged into this. If
anyone has either or both of these pieces of hardware and would like to sell
them, or knows where they might be available, I would very much like to hear
from you.
Since the memory on the motherboard is 64k chips, it also occurs to me
that it might be possible to replace a couple of banks of them with 256k chips.
It seems unlikely, but if anyone knows if it's possible or not I'd like to hear
that too.
     Thank you.
