After several phone calls in both directions, I finally have the scoop on getting a ROM upgrade for my ST296N drive. First of all, the contact person at Seagate is Pam Swanson at 1-800-468-3472 ext 2. She did an excellent job of tracking down the answers for this problem, and was very prompt at returning my calls. I'm glad some companies know the value of good help and understand the meaning of the word "service". The ROM upgrade (revision 7 or 12, I'm told) is available by sending your drive back to the place of purchase. If the company doesn't know anything about the situation, give them Pam's name and number, and she'll straighten it all out with them. I'd rather have them send me a ROM, but this is at least a reasonable solution, and doesn't void your warrantee. To all those who sent messages inquiring about this, enjoy your 1:1 interleave!
