What is the difference between a SIPP and a SIMM memory module?

In addition, I was told that my system (Computer Products United - 286)
needed SIMPs. Did the salesperson mispronounce SIPP, or is there really
another type of device? It was his claim that I would pull my 256K chips
and replace them with 1 meg SIMPs. Does this make sense in terms of
SIPPs, or is that configuration completely different?
