I have personally used the new SCO Unix on a more or less "generic" 386sx
box with no problem.  I think that Intel's comment is probably largely
irrelevant, at best.

Is that a 386 specific unix or one that will also run on 286's?

No, the 80386SX uses 32 bit internal registers and is fully programmable
compabitible with the 80386.  The only thing it shares with the 80286 is
the 16 bit data path.
