[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Porting software to OS/2

rkpc@mergvax (Rob Kedoin) (09/02/89)

Hello all! I'm posting this article here since there isn't yet a
comp.sys.os2 :-)

I've been using OS/2 for a few months now, and have been hunting for
software in both executable and source form. Now that I've accumulated
quite a bit of software, I've been thinking about some other tools that
would be nice for OS/2.

Since I like the UNIX tools, I have been wondering about porting some tools
from UNIX to OS/2. I think it would be great if we could port some/most of
the Free Software Foundation's GNU software to OS/2. I have Bison (GNU's
yacc) for OS/2.

I am thinking of attempting to port Bash (GNU's Bourne Again Shell) to OS/2
and would like any advice for porting from UNIX to OS/2.

Thanks in advance,
