[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Seagate controller specs

davidsen@sungod.crd.ge.com (08/03/89)

Earlier today I posted a response to a question about a Seagate
controller. That response was correct, but incomplete. He is the scoop
on Seagate hard disk controllers for AT style machines.

(list of boards deleted)

The info posted is correct, but those are not Seagate's controllers. They
are all made by Western Digital.

They will operate with most ST412 (ie: common interface) drives on the
market, given the correct encoding format. The 1006 series are especially
nice, having on-board track buffers. Typical HD transfer rates for the 1006
series are ~450KB/second for MFM and 650KB/second for RLL units.

We handle all of 'em, with no regrets.
