According to this morning's D&C People Section, there was a public screening of Star Trek II - The Wrath Of Khan in Overland Park, Kansas (where??). The main point of the article was reaction to the death of Mr. Spock, but not much detail. Has anyone heard any more about the movie, such as release date or anything.

I heard that not Spock, but KIRK dies! They said on TV that at the end of the movie, Spock hints at the fact that Kirk may not be dead forever. (I think I heard it right)

I saw an interview on TV a few weeks ago with Leonard Nimoy. He hinted that POSSIBLY Spock COULD die but not forever, see. I think someone is going to die and come back in the next movie... 144

There has been talk for some time that Spock would/might die. I read somewhere (maybe on the net) that he was supposed to die while fixing some power supply on the Enterprise. Nimoy is getting tired of playing the character, they say. However, there is also talk that this may be one of those "temporary" deaths (Mark Twain : "the rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated"), where the dier (diee ?) can be brought back. This sounds like a possibility, since Cinefantastique reports that Nimoy has signed (or is about to sign) a contract for ST III !

Latest I've heard about this mess is that the next movie following Star Trek II is Star Trek III (so what else is new?): In Search of Spock. /Eric

Check out the SJ Mercury today, page 2A: "I couldn't ask for anything better," Sallin (producer) said of the audience, which applauded the end of the movie; in which Spock - the green-blooded alien stoically played by Leonard Nimoy - dies. "The acid test for us was at the point of his death," said Gordon Weaver, Paramount senior vice president for worldwide marketing. "The audience sat there totally silent; some were crying." "It left you hanging at the end of the movie, whether Spock dies or not," Koehler said. "That was his voice you heard at the end."

Did you ever hear of putting a spoiler warning before giving out hard information on movies? No matter where it comes from it doesn't need to be propagated to everyone. Until now we were speculating.... Thanks a lot!

The latest I have heard, as reported in the San Francisco Chronic(le) was that Spock does, indeed, die in ST-II. However, another rumor, from I-can't- remember-where, says that he returns in Star Trek III... In any event, the movie (ST-II) opens in the Bay area on June 4, as I understand it.
