This may be a dead horse, in which case please accept apologies and e-mail me the discussion that preceeded! In any event, we're having a heck of a time with the great 360k v. 1.44m drive read/write controversey. Our own astute and empirically sound research indicates that we are getting way more errors than we'd expect, at least on our Zeniths (the U. of K. has a contract w/Zenith, so this is our installed base for testing). Our admin. user services group says this is an industry wide, not just ZENITH problem, but we are not able to confirm this... Use of the switches while formatting seems to HELP, but not work reliably enough for my taste, anyway. To quote on of our consultants, "Disbelief, misunderstandings and accusations of idiocy have...this rumored disk drive in- compatibility to the level of folk myth." Yeah, not only that, but it is hard to figure out whats what nohow. Anyone have any pointers to articles in the trades, personal anecdotal evidence, actual studies or the like to illuminate this annoying problem? We have a real mix of 360, 720 & 1.2/1.44" 5 and a quarters, we'd like to be able to talk about it intelligently! Thanks in advance! db
