I went to see STAR TREK II : TWoK on Friday (opening day). A truly excellent film. In every way, it is much more believable than the previous movie or series, yet it remains faithful to its record. One thing which has always bothered me about previous Star Trek stories is the near invulnerability of the Enterprize, in this movie that myth falls. Also in this film, death is no longer treated as a simple, painless thing. The sense of loss this film evokes when Spock dies is almost unendurable (I shall probably not see it again for this reason). The only flaw I can put against the film is that it assumes you have seen the episode 'Space Seed' from the original series, and are reasonably familiar with the normal players. I heartily recommend this film to any and all people who have ever enjoyed ANY sicience fiction. murray at intelqa
