Hi, A couple of questions. The first is why can't I write text directly to video memory when in "vidoemode" using Microsoft C. Of course it does work if I use BIOS calls, but that is too slow. The reason I ask is because I just got a shareware windowing library of C routines that is very good (it's called CXL). It has a flag that if set ouptuts using BIOS, otherwise it writes to video memory directly. The second question is has anyone used the Desqview API with Microsft C video mode? My final question is does anyone have or know of commercial or shareware windowing routines in C that work in Microsoft C video mode? I don't want Microsoft windows. It has way too much overhead. I would be such a waste to reinvent the wheel on this one. Please don't post responses after Thursday September 14th, for after that day I loose usenet news since the machine I get it on is being replaced with a super computer. Mail will be forwarded so you should be able to reach me via the usenet news "reply". Mailed responses will be welcomed for as long as there is interest. Thanks in advance, Troy Holly internet: u-tholly%ug@cs.utah.edu
