I posted a request to the net several days ago requesting information about
suppliers of external 1.44 meg (3.5 inch) floppy drives for us poor individuals
with no room inside the computer. The drive had to look electrically like
a second internal drive. My friendly ISC UNIX software vendor (ELC Business
Solutions in Fair Oaks, CA. -- thanks Jeff) found a source:

The drive is in an externally powered housing and comes with a ribbon
cable to attach the unit to a connector that mounts in place of a vacant board
slot blank plate (an optional 6 foot shielded cable is available at extra
cost). They have two different methods available to connect the unit inside
the computer.
