The version of MKS VI I have has bugs. The (u)ndo command leaves the cursor in very strange positions in the file, usually on a different page. It's such a pain in the neck that the (u)ndo command is useless! As I remember the first time you use it it works fine, but if you undo a second change, it will put the cursor at the location of the first change, as do all subsequent (u)ndos. I wrote to MKS several months ago and reported this bug. I got mail back from Lynn Conway telling me she was able to reproduce it. I never have gotten back any response from MKS as to whether or not the bug has been fixed. In my documentation for MKS, it mentions that if you report a valid bug in their software, they will give you the fixed version for free. I have seen no evidence that they honor that claim. I have sent mail to Chris Retterath at MKS asking him about it, He does not answer my mail! -- Michael A. In article <1592@hjuxa.UUCP>, mal@hjuxa.UUCP (Michael Leach) writes of
his problems with the undo command in MKS VI. Now, I believe him. Heaven
knows how many clearly genuine customer problems I've heard, that I
couldn't reproduce in the lab (without days of testing, or at all), or
how many I've reported to vendors that they couldn't reproduce. (He
doesn't say if he's using the stand-alone MKS VI, or the MKS Toolkit, or
what version he has, or what version of DOS and what TSR's and device
drivers were running, all of which I'd consider significant.) If
Michael continues to have problems, I encourage him to continue to
(politely) bother MKS technical support.
For the record: My copy (MKS Toolkit 2.2d) has never given me any
problem with undo. (The ! operator doesn't seem too swift, but I've
never bothered to report the problems I've seen, and I'm two versions
behind anyway.) I have nothing to do with MKS, except as a satisfied
customer at home.
