[comp.sys.ibm.pc] DTK computers

I am in the process of buying a AT bare system (Motherboard,
chassis and Power supply) for about $400.

Has anyone got a DTK (taiwain) AT clone?
I have heard that their BIOS is trash, so mine will have a pheonix
BIOS. I am haveing the dealer install my RAMs so the ship me a
  working board.
When trieing to deal with DTK directly, I have been severly jacked
around. (two month delay on shipment, then I canceled)

I would love to just go out and buy a AT but with limited funds
this seems to be the only way to afford it.

We had DTK computers where I worked. Some of them used to crash for no
aparent reason, but the newer models seemed to run fairly well, even in
turbo mode. Our disk index was too slow, but that probably had nothing
to do with the compuer model or the BIOS.  I'm now using a Challenger PC-AT;
I have no idea how expensive it is or where Challenger is located, but it
runs flawlessly.

I am looking for a good 286 system for a friend. We found the following:
   DTK 286 12 Mhz system
   1 Mb ram
   1.44 Mb floppy
30 Mb hard drive with acceptable access time
   Mouse
   Dos 3.3
   1 year warranty
   Mono Monitor w/ Hercules graphics
   Enhanced 101 keyboard
   Clock with Battery backup
   1 serial and 1 parallel
   Baby Case

The price is $1340.00 + tax.

I would like to know if anyone has had problems with DTK systems. If not, Does
this seem like a good price or is there a better system for a better price.
I am also wondering about the compatibility of the DTK bios installed in the system. I would appreciate any information on DTK and any insight on a better
machine.
