PCL is what the LJ II uses, NOT HPGL, HPGL is the language used to talk to HP plotters. THERE is a VERY BIG diff here, HPGL is ASCII text commands, PCL is binary commands. btw, PCL stands for Page Control Language Yes there is a cartridge from Pacific Data Products that converts a HP LJ II into a "Plotter" so that is understands HPGL.
