Help! I managed to get an OZ Guardian 533 modem on the cheap this summer and I can't get it to work. I'm trying to use it with Procomm Plus. This modem has built-in dialing menus and configuration memory. I don't think it's Hayes compatible. Can anyone provide information on this beast? Can I use it with Procomm? Thanks in advance... Whether it's Hayes-compatible or not, you should be able to use it with Procomm, as all (or practically all) of the setup strings, comand strings, result messages, etc. are user-configurable. However, you'll need a manual for the modem to figure these out, and most other comm software won't like non-Hayes modems. My advice is that if it turns out to be non-Hayes compatible, only use it temporarily. Get yourself a Hayes-compatible modem with documentation and a warranty as soon as possible, and life will be a little bit easier for you. -- Stephen M.
