The V20 implements a superset of the '186 instruction set, not really the
286 set.  All of the extra instructions that compilers generate in 286 mode
such as enter, leave, and push constant are also in the 186 and so on the V20.
If for some reason you want to run OS/2 you need a 286 or 386.
