Hello. Does anyone know the source of this problem? I suspect it to be either my modem or phone line but I am not sure. I have often used our unix kermit to talk to the MS-KERM when logged in via one of the PC on campus. These are connected via Decserver and ethernet to the vax. I never have problems downloading then. However, I recently bought a internal Cardinal 2400 baud modem for my 386 pc (ZEOS). I can be dialed in for over an hour as a terminal and have no problems. But when I do a file transfer, my Carrier seems to drop at some point during the transfer. Sometimes it can be after only 50 or so so packets, other times my carrier won't drop until over 100 K have been transfered. What makes it frustrating is that until the carrier drops - i.e. kermit gives me a Transfer Failed - I get no packet errors. I make sure when I do this that I have set the unix kermit to binary and I am even careful about moving around in my room (probably paranoid about disturbing the modem here). It would seem at first to be my modem, but then why should I not get zapped while acting as a terminal? Does anyone have any ideas that I could test???
