This could stem back to the fact that the server contains information regarding each workstation. Once ipx and net3 are loaded, that information is conveyed to the server. The information includes all the DOS config information along with many of the connection properties. When you attempt to modify your DOS environment, you would have to inform the server. This because the server is controlling your connection and keeping tabs on your file access. The server informs the ipx what can and can't be done with a certain file. The FILES= statement is independent of whether you are accessing files locally or on the server. Anyhow, the server will not support, nor allow, a single workstation to have more open files than is specified in the server configuration when it is installed. If the server was told to support 15 open files per connection, then that IS ALL IT WILL SUPPORT. Until you redefine this area, you will have this problem. **************************************************************************** * Thank You, texbell!letni!rwsys!trsvax!slimer * * Bill "Get your VAX straight!" - ComputerWorld * * George W.
