I have recently acquired IBM's PS/2 30 Model 30-021. This is the model which has the 8086 processor with an 8 Mhz clock. It also has an XT bus and zero-wait state. (Memory = 640 kB.) Living in Sweden makes it quite difficult not only to read about, but also to buy, expansion boards, upgrades, and so forth. As I plan to be in the Boston/Nashua area over the X-mas holidays, I thought I could take the opportunity to buy some goodies for my machine. The thing is that I am not quite sure what this machine accepts, and what is available in the line of memory expansion boards, processor upgrades boards (286 or 386), and so on. How compatible are these and would one really recommend it? Can this little PS/2 30 be upgraded to the point of running a good UNIX system on it? Since I am new to the model 30 I would appreciate all and/or any help I can get. What should I buy? What is available? What are the costs like? I would rather this kind of information is e-mailed to me rather than posted as I have quite a hard time reading all the articles and seem to miss some of the good ones. Thanks for any help, Phil Dale. (from 400 km south of the polar circle)
