I received a flyer a few weeks ago from Intel regarding their new software package for the HP LaserJet called Visual Edge. According to the flyer, Visual Edge is suppose to nearly double the speed of your LaserJet, and produce higher quality images than ever before. I am doing some extensive desktop publishing work in PageMaker 3.0, thus the Visual Edge package would be a godsend for my system. I am using an IBM PS/2 model 60, with a 2mg IBM expanded memory board which I use as a RAM drive to speed up PageMaker along with the extended memory. The HP LaserJet II has 4.5 mg of memory. I use the downloadable fonts that came with PageMaker and MultiMate (BitStream Fonts), and currently have no font cartridges. The flyer mentions the use of LIM EMS memory, which I am afraid would interfere with the RAM drive I have set up. So my question is, has anyone worked with Visual Edge? What are its bad points? Does it really double the speed of the printer? How is it manipulating the expanded and extended memory? Would you recommend this package? Any and all suggestions/comments are appreciated. Please send personal e-mail if possible. Thanks! Tracy

Re: Intel's Visual Edge for LaserJet This product has also intrigued me. Its hype claims that true halftone pictures are now possible on the LJ. How do they do this? On the LJ, a pixel (or dot) is either printed or not. A halftone capability implies a variable sized dot.
