Someone asked how DOS stores the serial numbers on a disk. I have MS-DOS 4.01 so I used DEBUG to load the boot sector from two disks into memory and compared them. They were different in four locations from 27 to 2A. Reversing the order of these bytes gives the serial number. Hard disks are the same. I now do a lot of work on DEAD-C0DE. What is the serial number of your disk, AC1D-FACE? Do you boot off CAFE-F00D? (Or do you think that this is ABAD-1DEA?) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
