I need some *practical* advise here. I've been thinking about getting an IBM compatable system for quite some time now, and have recently been more seriously looking around. I have found what looks to be a good deal on a PS/2 30-286. A few questions- (a) Is it a reliable system? I mean, am I going to get my money's worth? She sounds great on paper, but I don't want to go just by what the dealers have said. (b) Is it a good system to re-learn on? I haven't been on a PC in a few years, and I've spent most of my time on a UNIX system here on campus, and am rather unfamiliar with anything beyond the dark ages of the Apple IIe. Well, okay, I'm not quite THAT primitive. I do have access to an early IBM PC, but it's an older model. A MUCH older model. (c) One thing bothers me about the specs-it's only got one floppy drive. I know you can get the "optional external drive," but is the extra cost worth it? (d) Any advise from anyone that currently owns a 286? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. I prefer e-mail replies.
