I received a mail inquiry about an earlier posting about DVIVGA for previewing TeX output. The mail bounced, and I decided to post my reply since it might be of general interest. --------- To: PSUVM!DLV101@cs.utexas.edu In-Reply-To: "Dwaine L. I'm using 2.1, but it has some 386 specific code in it. I don't know what the 386 code does differently. I haven't seen the source. I got the 386 version directly from the author. It is about 10% faster, when all the fonts are in disk cache -- if your fonts aren't cached, I doubt you'll see any difference. I could mail you a copy UUencoded if you would like. You might want to contact the author directly. The author's email address is: mcdonald@uxe.cso.uiuc.edu Maybe he has got an even faster version running. Let me know if you find out anything interesting. As for DESQview, I have never used it. -- Kevin Allred allred@emx.cc.utexas.edu allred@ut-emx.UUCP
