I've got an ancient XT I'm considering putting a 3.5" drive in. What do I need to look out for in doing this? Can I just hook the HW up and it's off to the races? I believe this system is running DOS 3.1 Also - I have a lotus program here which is giving me an error 12 after it goes to drive A from the initial "123, printgraph, translate...." menu. Anyone know what that is? Thanks for any and all assistance in advance! +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Timothy D. I just put a 1.44 drive in my XT. I used the Universal Floppy Controller from Northgate -- costs $99.00 plus shipping. I hooked it up to a Teac drive. It works fine, since it has bios built into it. I'm using it as my primary controller, and it will control up to four drives (360, 720, 1.2 and 1.44), internal and external. If you have dos 3.3, you can use it without any special software (except for the format command -- they've included a replacement for the Dos version, and it works fine). They've included software if you don't have Dos 3.3. I'm pretty happy with it. Mike Palmquist Department of English Carnegie Mellon University mp2k@andrew.cmu.edu voice: 412/268-5636
