CompuAdd has abandoned the traditional 8 vertical slot AT box for a smaller footprint 5 horizontal slot box. In this new configuration the powers that be have decided to mount the serial, parallel port, floppy and harddisk controller on the motherboard. I am not sure if a graphics card is also on the motherboard. Does anyone have any feedback on this configuration? I am considering purchasing 5 to 6 of these machines, some of which would be used in data acquisition applications. My major concern with the decrease in footprint is the increase in chip density. Are there possible cooling problems once these slots begin to fill up? If anyone is using these new machines (particularly in data acquisition) I would appreciate hearing about it.
