When issuing an interrupt 21H (DOS function call) from an assembly program, specifying a file on a remote system, the functions 43H (find first) and 3CH (create file) causes the system to come back with `Not ready error reading drive <whatever>', and does the old Abort/Retry/Fail thingy. The `ethernet activity' square lights up continuously for 5-10 seconds before this failure. Ordinary DOS user commands like `dir' and `copy' work fine. Has anyone else ever come across this? Are these DOS calls trying to be clever and attempting something naughty at a lower level than the ethernet driver, perhaps? Or is there something that needs to be added to config.sys that isn't done automatically by the installation program? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -- Harry Fearnhamm, EMAIL: harry@moncam.co.uk Monotype ADG, ...!ukc!acorn!moncam!harry Science Park, VOICE: +44 (0)223 420018 Cambridge, FAX: +44 (0)223 420911 CB4 4FQ, ENGLAND.
