In light of the recent interest in the demise of Bambi's parents, I went to the source (my daughter-to-be's Little Golden Book by the same title ) for some possible clarification. Though not really clear on exactly what happened to Bambi's father, it is clear that Bambi's mother was killed by the hunter. The demise of Bambi's father in thg forest fire is clearly indicated by the fact that after telling Bambi to run, he is never heard from again. However, the LGB version, being somewhat shortened and softened, didn't state this explicitly.
