1 2 3 4 5 One inconsistancy that I noticed that no one else seems to have mentioned has to do with Checkov's navigation on the Reliant. Since a starship (the Enterprise) had previously visited and presumably charted the structure of the Ceti-Alpha solar system, and since (as Kahn explained) one planet had exploded and altered the environment of Kahn's planet, why did Checkov (or whoever was navigating the on the Reliant) not notice that the solar system the Reliant was exploring did not correspond to the one that must have been depicted on his charts? Have you ever heard of putting spoiler warnings in the Subject field of messages that reveal details about movies? I HAVEN'T seen ST-II yet, but I want to soon. Please insert spoiler warnings. There are a lot of us who would appreciate it! Charlie.

Obviously the star fleet does not use charts. How else does one explain the eternally cruising in search of places no man has gone before and finding human colonies, and especially aquaintences and personal enemies of Kirk? Also, given the number of lifeless planets in our solar system (most of which are charted), why couldn't the genesis project find their planet from the charts?
