I just became the new ownwer of an ancient printer, the Radio Shack TRS 80 Line Printer V. The problem is that when I print a file, it gives two carriage returns for every one in the text. According to the manual, there aren't any dip switches. I think that there must be some control characters that I need to send to the printer to print properly. Does anybody else have this dinosaur? Any ideas on how to make it print properly? It seems like a really fast printer and I would like to have it printing without the extra spaces. Please email solutions. Thanks in advance bundy wist@eniac.seas.upenn.edu

Thanks in advance bundy wist@eniac.seas.upenn.edu /* End of text from techsup:comp.sy.ibm.pc */ There is a DIP switch on the main logic board that is documented in the Service Manual. Position 3 open causes a CR to generate a line feed also Position 3 closed causes CR to cause a CR only Position 4 open causes CR to be disregarded aftera LF or CR Position 4 closed causes CR to NOT be disregarded. Sounds like switch 3 is what you need. The Service manual can be ordered from a local store or direct from Tandy Consumer parts (with a credit card). Their number is 817-870-5600. Gary K

That command will only work if he is running TANDY MS-DOS. And
even then he'll need to run a couple of other programs to get it
to work right. (LF.COM and something else)
