TO: HUISJES@CS.VU.NL HM| HM|A friend of mine just got hold of a DEC Rainbow 100 running MS-DOS HM|2.11 and he's having troubles with disk formats. It seems that a DEC HM|Rainbow formats disks at 400K (how odd) and cannot read normal 360K HM|... What am I doing wrong? Is a DEC Rainbow HM|really that incompatible and more important, how do I transfer my Michael, My condolences to your friend. An office next to mine tried setting up remoted PC's at offices across Canada with the famous Rainbow. They didn't really research it very well. As a result they now have a whole bunch of white elephants. These machines were found not to be as "DOS compatible" as people had expected. Software had to be "Rainbow" specific and was quite a mess. My guess is you aren't doing anything wrong, the Rainbow is. You might try finding a comms package for the rainbow and null modeming the Rainbow to a real PC and then try file transferring what you need. But I don't have much hope. Good luck. I suspect you'll need it. --- ~ EZ 1.22 ~
