Aside from more library routines and the "interrupt" keyword, are their any substantial differences between Microsoft C 4.0 and Microsoft C 5.1? Does the compiler generate better code? Does it generate code faster? Are the support programs (like LIB or LINK) new and improved? Thanks in advance for any facts or opinions! -- | Ray Lubinsky rwl@amber.cs.virginia.edu (Internet) | | rwl@virginia (BITnet) | | Department of Computer Science, ...!uunet!virginia!uvacs!rwl (UUCP) | | University of Virginia (804) 982-2227 (voice) |

MSC 5.1 has more ANSI features than 4.0. -- bill davidsen (davidsen@crdos1.crd.GE.COM -or- uunet!crdgw1!crdos1!davidsen) "The world is filled with fools. They blindly follow their so-called 'reason' in the face of the church and common sense. Any fool can see that the world is flat!" - anon

Well, 5.1 has one thing which will definitely not work with 4.0. OS/2 support. The linker is supposed to be better, the Microsoft editor is incuded, which also comes with a PROTECTED mode version. This was the first decent OS/2 editor I was able to get ahold of. The compile times appear faster to me, in both DOS and OS/2, but I haven't actually tested this.
